本中心胡念祖主任於2012年11月受教廷正式經外交管道邀請出席由教廷主辦之第 23 屆「海洋使徒世界大會」（the 23rd World Congress of the Apostleship of the Sea, 19-23 November 2012），以 「一堵玻璃牆：東南亞海員福祉之發展」（A Glass Wall: Seafarers' Welfare Development in Southeast Asia）為題發表專題講演，並獲贈教宗本篤十六世第 668 號銀質獎章。
